The Election Commission has introduced a QR-based Photo ID card system on ECINET to regulate entry to counting halls on May 4 and prevent unauthorised access.

3-tier security: RO ID cards checked manually at first two tiers; third tier QR scan at innermost cordon. Applies to ECI-auth entrants. Media centre near counting halls for media.

In the meantime, the Trinimool Congress yesterday moved Supreme Court against the Calcutta High Court’s order rejecting the plea challenging deployment of only central government staffs at the counting centres on 4 May.
