Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi begins four-day visit to Myanmar

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi is on a four-day official visit to Myanmar from today. The Defence Ministry informed that during his visit Admiral Tripathi will engage in bilateral discussions with the Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar General Ye Win Oo, the Defence Minister of Myanmar General U Htun Aung and other senior officials of the Myanmar Armed Forces.

The interactions will review the ongoing bilateral maritime cooperation, enhance operational-level linkages, and explore new avenues for collaboration between the two navies.

The visit also includes engagements at Myanmar Navy’s Central Naval Command, Naval Training Command and No. 1 Fleet, and laying of a wreath at Myanmar Armed Forces Fallen Heroes’ War Memorial.

The Ministry said that these engagements will cover a wide range of defence cooperation matters, with particular focus on maritime security, capacity building, capability enhancement and training.
