India Beats Ukraine 4-1 in Uber Cup at Denmark

Indian shuttlers made a strong comeback after losing their opening match, registering a dominant win over Ukraine in their second Group A encounter at the Uber Cup Finals.

The Indian team had gone down 2-3 to hosts Denmark in their opening Group tie on Friday. However, they responded emphatically by defeating Ukraine 4-1, sweeping all three singles matches.

Tanvi won a three-game thriller against Yevheniia Kantemyr, while Unnati Hooda prevailed over Polina Buhrova in a 46-minute see-saw contest that went down to the wire.

Devika also secured a straight-games victory in the third singles, defeating Mariia Stoliarenko to clinch the tie.

India’s quarterfinal fate will be decided on Monday when they face strong contender China.

In the Thomas Cup, after win over Canada, Indian Men’s team will face Australia on Monday.
