The Vice President, C. P. Radhakrishnan, today attended the 6th Convocation Ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh. The Governor of the state, Gurmit Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Union Minister of State (Health & Family Welfare), Anupriya Patel, were also present on the occasion
Radhakrishnan said that a convocation marks not only the culmination of years of disciplined effort and sacrifice but also the beginning of a greater responsibility towards society and the nation.
He urged the graduates to embrace their professional duties with dedication and a sense of purpose.
Praising AIIMS Rishikesh, he said the institute stands as a model of excellence by combining clinical care, academic strength, research, innovation, and social commitment. He particularly appreciated its telemedicine initiatives, noting that healthcare must go beyond hospital campuses to reach remote and underserved populations.
The Vice President also lauded innovative healthcare interventions such as Helicopter Emergency Medical Services and the use of drones for delivering medicines during the Char Dham Yatra and in remote areas, describing these as effective solutions to longstanding challenges in healthcare delivery.
On this occasion, the Executive Director of AIIMS, Professor Dr. Meenu Singh, said that this convocation is not only a celebration of the academic achievements of students but also a symbol of AIIMS Rishikesh’s commitment to producing dedicated, capable, and ethical healthcare professionals for the nation.
The Executive Director informed that a total of 386 students from various courses were awarded degrees during the sixth convocation ceremony.
She further stated that a total of 23 medals were awarded on this occasion, including 13 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze medals given to students for outstanding performance in different courses.
