External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has criticised the opposition for not allowing the passage of the Constitution Amendment Bill, which would effectively implement the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
Dr. Jaishankar said that by blocking the amendment, parties including Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK and Samajwadi Party have denied women’s legitimate rights to representation in legislatures.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has criticised the Congress-led opposition for blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.
Naidu said that at a time when the country is taking significant steps towards women’s empowerment, the Congress-led opposition chose obstruction instead of constructive participation.
He added that opposing the bill is not just political posturing but a direct denial of opportunity to millions of women across the country.
The Minister emphasised that the Women’s Reservation Bill is about ensuring justice, dignity, and fair representation for women in the democratic process.
Voting was held in Parliament yesterday on Women’s Reservation Bill. The Bill was unable to get the two-thirds majority.
