During an ongoing search operation against Maoists in the Saranda forests of Chaibasa, Jharkhand, police personnel were injured in an IED blast on the second day and are being airlifted to Ranchi for treatment. Following the incident, security forces have cordoned off the entire area and intensified the operation, continuing the campaign due to the presence of Maoists.

Notably, an encounter had also taken place in the same area a day earlier, in which four personnel of the CRPF CoBRA 205 battalion were injured and later airlifted to Ranchi, where their condition is reported to be stable.

According to sources, security forces have surrounded Maoists within a radius of nearly 10 kilometers, with the possibility of the presence of a one-crore bounty Maoist leader Misir Besra.

Officials stated that intermittent firing continued till late night and there are reports of casualties among Maoists as well, though official confirmation will be made only after the operation concludes.
