Eight people were killed and over 22 others injured after a bus carrying around 40 passengers overturned and met with an accident near Bassi Pathana in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab last night.

The passengers were returning after paying obeisance at Sri Anandpur Sahib on the occasion of Baisakhi, afterthe accident occured near HimmatpuraVillage.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the loss of lives in the tragic accident.

In separate social media posts, the vice president and the prime minister conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

Deeply saddened to learn about the bus accident in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
