South Central Railway has achieved its highest-ever freight loading, hauling 144.244 million tonnes of goods in the current financial year, 2025-26, surpassing last year’s record of 144.14 million tonnes and reaching this milestone a full week before the financial year ends.

Coal and cement remain the zone’s strongest commodities, largely from Singareni Collieries and cement factories in the region. The zone also loaded iron ore, fertilisers, food grains, containers, and other goods, reflecting a conscious effort to diversify beyond traditional cargo.

The achievement is credited to strong teamwork across all departments: Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, and Signals. SCR officials have also been maintaining regular contact with freight customers to address their needs promptly.

Special attention to port loading and capturing new commodities further boosted the numbers. General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava congratulated the entire SCR workforce for their commitment and coordinated effort in reaching this landmark.

He encouraged the team to sustain this momentum and aim for even greater growth in the months ahead. South Central Railway’s record freight performance underlines its growing role as a key driver of the region’s economic activity.
