Punjab Government announces ₹2.60 lakh crore for welfare and development

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presented the state’s budget for the year 2026-27 with an allocation of 2,60,437 crore rupees today.

The total revenue receipts for 2026-27 are projected at 1,26,190 crore rupees. Of this, 70,851 crore rupees will come from Own Tax Revenue and 15,687 crore rupees from Non-Tax Revenue.

Presenting the budget on International Women’s Day, the Finance Minister dedicated it to women of Punjab. He also announced the ‘Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satikar Yojana’, under which eligible women will get financial assistance of 1,000 rupees per month, while Dalit women will receive 1,500 rupees per month. Almost 97 per cent of women in the State will be covered under the current eligibility criteria.

He said, budgetary provisions have also been kept for various other sectors including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure development, rural development, free power to farmers, industry, fight against drugs etc. This is the last budget of the AAP government in Punjab before it goes to polls early in 2027.
