The nation is paying tribute today to the security personnel and victims who lost their lives while defending Parliament during the terrorist attack on this day in 2001. Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers, and Members of Parliament paid floral tributes to the martyrs in the Parliament House premises today.

On this very day, the attack carried out by five Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, all of whom were killed by the security forces during the exchange of fire.

A total of nine bravehearts including 5 Delhi Police, made the supreme sacrifice to save Parliament, defend democracy, and protect the nation with unmatched courage and dedication.

CRPF Constable Saheed Kamlesh Kumari Yadav, who spotted, the militants and raise the alarm, for which she was posthumously awarded the nation’s highest peacetime gallantry award, the Ashoka Chakra.
