The Mising Autonomous Council has been officially recognised by the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for training a large number of hair dressers under its livelihood scheme.
Under the skill development initiative, over 200 unemployed youths were trained in hair cutting and grooming. Many of them have since become self-reliant, establishing their own businesses both within and outside Assam.
The certificate presentation ceremony was held on Saturday night at the Gogamukh Higher Secondary School playground.
The recognition was formally handed over by Sanjay Bhola, representative of Asia Book of Records, to Chief Executive Member of the Mising Autonomous Council, Paramananda Chayengia, in the presence of MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Bhuban Pegu, and other dignitaries.
