Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today addressed the Lok Sabha on the United States’ recent tariff announcement, stating that India will take all necessary steps to protect its national interest.
Speaking in the Lower House of Parliament, Goyal emphasized India’s growing economic resilience and global standing. “We will continue to take firm steps to safeguard and advance our national interests,” he said.
Highlighting the country’s progress, the Goyal noted that within a decade, India has moved from being part of the Fragile Five economies to becoming the world’s fastest-growing major economy. He attributed this transformation to consistent reforms and the tireless efforts of farmers and businesses.
He also pointed out that India has risen from the 11th to one of the top five economies globally, reinforcing its position on the world stage.
