The 21 year old, Manami Suizu won her first HSBC BWF World Tour title, clinching the YONEX Canada Open 2025 with a straight games win over Nguyen Thuy Linh.

The world no. 35 Japanese, who had earlier upset top seed Michelle Li in the semifinals, overcame second seed Nguyen 21-12 21-14 for the biggest title of her career.

“I was a bit tired, but during the match I just tried my best to do well,” said beaten finalist Nguyen. “I was happy just to stay on court. I have to keep training my physical side. I never gave up, I just kept fighting until the end of the match.”

Kenta Nishimoto had easy win over home favourite Victor Lai for his first title since the Madrid Spain Masters in April 2023. The third seeded Japanese took nearly an hour to subdue his challenger, 21-13 21-14.

“It was my first time ever in such a final. I was very nervous,” said Victor Lai, who had a stunning running during the week with wins over compatriot Brian Yang, France’s Arnaud Merkle, Malaysia’s Eogene Ewe and second seed Naraoka.

“I’m happy with the way I fought, I was down most of the game, but I didn’t give up, and tried to come back as much as possible,” Lai said.

In the all- Chinese Taipei finals brothers Lee Fang Chih/Lee Fang Jen won men’s doubles crown beating Chang Ko Chi/Po Li Wei 21-19 21-19.
