The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal, Mines, and Steel visited Gulmarg today as part of their study tour of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. During the visit, the Committee toured various locations, including the iconic Gondola ride.

Speaking to the media, Member of Parliament Sukhdeo Bhagat who is also the member of Indian National Congress, recalling Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s famous words, “If there is a paradise on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this,” said that Kashmir truly feels like paradise.

He added that the delegation experienced both Kashmiriyat—the unique cultural ethos of Kashmir—and a deep sense of humanity during their visit. Bhagat also praised the region’s legendary hospitality, which, he noted, is admired across the world.

He observed that tourists are visiting the region freely and without fear, enjoying its stunning natural beauty. While there have been attempts by some to disturb the peace, he emphasized that a peaceful atmosphere prevails, largely due to the resilience and spirit of Kashmiriyat.

The delegation expressed joy at witnessing the strong patriotic sentiments of the local people toward the country.
