Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS) graced as the Chief Speaker at the inaugural session of Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2025 organized by CDC & IQAC at Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneshwar.
The topic of the Faculty Development Programme was on “Integrating Indigenous Knowledge Systems into Higher Education: Vision through NEP-2020 and Beyond.”
Prof. Acharya emphasized that the Indian Knowledge System and Ayurveda are not merely healing sciences but profound frameworks for restoring balance in life, learning, and holistic education.
Focusing on Ayurveda, he said, “This ancient science can address modern-day health challenges through evidence-based research aligned with contemporary scientific parameters. The preventive and promotive health aspects of Ayurveda, including its recommended code of conduct, were elaborated upon.”
The concept of Vrikshayurveda (plant health) and Pashu Ayurveda (animal health) was also highlighted in the context of present-day relevance. Faculty members were apprised of the holistic framework of Ayurveda—covering its definition, aims, branches, scope, and opportunities for future research collaboration.
The session further explored the potential for interdisciplinary integration and entrepreneurship development based on Ayurvedic principles across various departments within the university system.
Prof. Susmit Prasad Pani, Prof. Sasmita Mohanty, Prof. Chandi Charan Rath, Prof. Shikha Singh, and the faculty members from the University and affiliated colleges were also present on the occasion.
