The Indian Army flagged off a challenging nine-day motorcycle expedition to the Kumaon region on Thursday. The journey, covering over 1,100 kilometers through tough terrain, was inaugurated by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C of Surya Command.

The expedition is led by Lt Col Aditi Mishra of the 8 Engineer Regiment, accompanied by 11 soldiers. The team will navigate demanding routes across Kumaon, aiming to reach remote villages and strengthen bonds within the armed forces.

With supported from Hero MotoCorp, the rally promotes youth engagement, women empowerment, and border tourism. The team will also meet NCC cadets and honour Veer Naris and war veterans in Pithoragarh and Didihat.

The expedition highlights Nari Shakti, with a woman officer leading the team. It underscores the Indian Army’s dual role as protector of the nation and driver of social development in remote border areas.
