A gamusa (traditional Assamese towel) being sold for ₹1.66 lakh has created quite a stir in Mangaldoi, Darrang district. The gamusa was offered to the Sri Sri Bishnu Mandir at Arjuntal, near Nij Dahi village, during the temple’s annual ceremony.

The bidding for the gamusa began at ₹10,000, but interest quickly grew among devotees. In the end, a man named Narapati Sarma purchased it for a record ₹1.66 lakh. Locals believe that keeping such a sacred gamusa at home brings good fortune.
