Strict security arrangements have been implemented along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to ensure the safe passage of Kashmiri Pandit pilgrims traveling to Ganderbal and other religious sites for the Mela Kheer Bhawani festival.

Additional security personnel have been deployed at key points, including Mir Bazar, Banihal, Qazigund, and other strategic locations, to facilitate smooth and secure traffic movement.

Kashmiri Pandits residing in other states of India, who crossed the Qazigund Navugye Tunnel yesterday evening on their way to Ganderbal, Devsar,  Manzgam and Kupwara to participate in the festival, received a warm and emotional welcome at Vessu.

Local Kashmiris, along with fellow Kashmiri Pandits, greeted them with garlands and flowers, creating a heartfelt atmosphere of unity, harmony, and celebration.

Kheer Bhawani mela is celebrated annually on Jyeshtha Ashtami, which falls on different dates in the Gregorian calendar each year depending on the lunar cycle. This year the mela will be celebrated on 03 June, 2025.
