New Delhi || 04-11-2024 Age is just a number. India’s Viswanathan Anand proves it, when you see his name in the 10th position in the latest list of November 2024 by FIDE Chess International Federation.
Anand is also the oldest in the Top 10 list and 3rd oldest in the Top 100 list. Boris Gelfand, 56 of Israel is in the position of 68 with 2667 rating points and Vasyl Ivanchuk, 55 of Ukraine in the 95th position with 2640 rating points.
Five time World Champion Viswanathan “Vishy” Anand, 54 was elected as the Deputy President of FIDE in 2022. He holds the record of all time eighth-highest FIDE Ratings. He is on the 10th Position with 2750 FIDE rating points.
Anand was the first Indian to get the Chess GrandMaster in 1988. He won many laurels for India including Gold in Mixed Team(2020) and Bronze in Mixed Team(2021) in the Chess Olympiad.
Anand defeated Alexi Shirov of Latvia-Spain in a six-game match to win the FIDE World Chess Championship 2000, a title he held until 2002. He became the World Champion in 2007 and defended his title against Vladimir Kramnik in 2008, Veslin Topalov in 2010, and Boris Gelfand in 2012 & 2013. He lost the title to challenger Magnus Carlsen of Norway and he lost a match to Carlsen in 2014 after winning the 2014 Candidates Tournament.
Anand started playing Chess at the age of 6 as her mother was a Chess lover.
