After a week of havoc in Himachal Pradesh, the state is finally witnessing clear blue skies.
However, the damage caused by landslides and cloudbursts has affected daily life, especially in the Mandi district. Relief and rescue operations are still ongoing in the area.
The administration is working on a war-like footing to restore roads, provide relief material, and reach people stranded in remote areas. On Sunday morning, two vehicles carrying relief supplies were dispatched to Janjehli. The second vehicle carried 100 ration kits. Additionally, with the help of the Indian Army, 15 ration kits were delivered to Pakhrar village via the Rain Galu route. A total of 2,500 ration kits have been distributed to affected people so far.
Till now, 72 people have lost their lives during this monsoon season in the state. The estimated loss stands at ₹566.87 crore.
On the other hand, the clear weather has helped build momentum in relief and rehabilitation efforts. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for July 8 and 9, and a yellow alert for July 10. The monsoon is expected to weaken after 11 July.
