The eighth edition of Exercise SHAKTI, a bilateral Indo-French military drill, is in full swing at La Cavalerie in Southern France, with troops from both nations conducting intensive joint training to boost interoperability and cohesion.
The Indian Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Rifles battalion, supported by an all-arms team, is training alongside France’s 13ᵉ Foreign Legion Half-Brigade (13e DBLE). The exercise focuses on sub-conventional warfare operations, with drills in combat shooting, obstacle navigation, and tactical planning.
Live-fire sessions featured cutting-edge small arms from both countries. The Indian Army showcased its latest indigenous weapons noted for precision and modularity, while the French side employed rugged, high-performance firearms, demonstrating superior combat synergy.
Joint teams also engaged in Electronic Warfare modules to bolster electromagnetic spectrum dominance. Counter-drone drills highlighted advanced C-UAS technologies through live demos, addressing modern battlefield threats with real-time, tactical responses.
