Tourism has picked up momentum in Kokernag following the official reopening of key destinations across Jammu and Kashmir, with the picturesque town witnessing a notable rise in tourist arrivals. The development follows the directive by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that paved the way for resumption of activities at several renowned sites, including Kokernag.
After three days of reopening, Kokernag recorded a footfall of nearly 5,000 tourists, many of whom hailed from Delhi and other parts of India. Known for its natural springs, sprawling gardens, and serene environment, Kokernag is once again buzzing with life as visitors return to explore its scenic offerings.
Tourists shared their joy and excitement at visiting Kokernag, encouraging others to explore the hidden gems of South Kashmir. Many were impressed with the natural beauty and hospitality of the region.
Rouf Rehman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kokernag Development Authority, expressed satisfaction over the revival. He informed that the administration is actively working on upgrading tourist infrastructure. “Since Kokernag was reopened on 17 June, we have recorded a footfall of around 5,000 tourists. We are committed to enhancing facilities and ensuring a comfortable and enriching experience for all visitors,” he stated.
Officials from the Tourism Department are hopeful that with the government support and visitor confidence, it will lead to sustained economic benefits and promote responsible tourism across the region in the months ahead.
