Ahmedabad Plane Crash: 206 DNA Sample Matches Confirmed

Six days after the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash, authorities continue to work round the clock to ensure that DNA samples are matched and the remains are handed over to grieving families as quickly as possible.

So far, tests have verified the identities of 206 victims who died in the June 12 crash, and the mortal remains of 169 victims have been handed over to their families. The remaining families are also being contacted, and the remaining mortal remains will be handed over soon.

The testing is being conducted by teams from the FSL and the National Forensic Sciences University. The Gujarat government is closely coordinating with the Civil Hospital to ensure smooth communication between officials and victims’ families.
