For the pious and volunteered act, there is a saying, “Give blood, Give Hope: Together we save lives.” Aligning with this motto of saving the precious human life, every year on 14th of June ‘World Blood Donor Day’ is being observed globally. It emphasized the significance of regular and voluntary donations in ensuring a safe and sufficient blood supply for those in need.
The leading health based charitable organization Indian Liver Patient Foundation (ILPF) and NCC Directorate of Odisha, jointly conducted a mega blood donation camp and 300 NCC cadets, many volunteers, employees of Institute of Life Sciences in collaboration with Department of Transfusion medicine, SCB Medical college Cuttack as a part of Mission-BLOSSOM” (BLood and Organ donation Support to Society and Making it Memorable).
A statewide competition on organ donation, blood donation in terms of drawing and slogan was conducted with 585 participants and 20 winners were awarded by chief Guest, Eminent Neurosurgeon Padmashree Dr. Ashok Mahapatra and justice Subhankar Shukla.
To sensitize the public, about the act of organ donation, a song was released by Colonel Satyabrata Swain (DDG, NCC Directorate of Odisha) and Shree Amitabh Thakur (IPS, State transport commissioner) and senior journalist Kishore Dwivedi, written by London based doctor Sahadev Swain, composed by Srimarani Ds from Ireland and voice by renowned singer Barnali Hota followed by patriotic songs and dance performed by NCC cadets made everyone mesmerized.
NCC as a disciplined soldier of nation building, example of discipline and outstanding in their act in need was explained by experts during road accidents and highlighted the Golden hours by D Sandi Pradhan, M Akshaya IPS, Dr Kedar Panda, Dr B Rabindran and Er M R Mishra. Making Odisha to have visible organ donation, the time has come and we need collaborated effort was echoed by renowned doctors Dr. Amrit Pattajoshi, Dr. Aruna Acharya, Dr Brahamdutta Patnaik and greater role of media was highlighted by eminent journalist Kishore Dwivedi and Sangram Sarangi.
Welcome address was given by Dr Debashis Dash Director ILS with highlights of the program by Dr Bishnupriya Sahoo, chairman ILPF and mesmerising Yoga event was conducted by AIPH university under guidance of Dr Dinesh swain followed by wellness tips from the adolescent and young adults by Dr Ashok Choudhury.
Dr.Susmita Behera and Asst Director NIC, Rahul Sinha moderated the session, the ILPF volunteers Dr Bharati, Dr Lipika, Maheswar, Manoj, Chinmayee, Bibek volunteers from SATHI, CRAPTS untiringly made the event to be successful. Trustee ILPF Er U K Pani, Col P Deenanathdayalam, Colonel Uday Singh from NCC with the entire team of ILS and NCC directorate were thanked by octagerian Dilip Choudhary for making it a grand success.
