Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is preparing to take the field at the Paris Diamond League on 20 June, 2025 scheduled at Stade Sébastien-Charlety. The reigning world champion will make his second Diamond League appearance this season and his first return to Paris in eight years.
This will be Chopra’s fourth competition of 2025 as he aims to bounce back after missing the podium in his recent outings in Qatar and Poland. The double Olympic medalist is keen to get back on top.
In May at the Doha Diamond League, Neeraj set a new national record with a massive throw of 90.23 meters, bettering his previous best of 89.94 meters from the 2022 Stockholm meet. Despite this milestone, he finished second behind Germany’s Julian Weber, who threw a world-leading 91.06 meters.
After Paris, Chopra will compete at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in the Czech Republic on 24 June, a World Athletics Continental Gold event, continuing his competitive season.
Points accumulated across the Diamond League series will determine which athletes qualify for the 2025 Diamond League Final in Zurich on 27-28 August, where the season’s top performers will vie for the championship.
Neeraj had claimed the Doha Diamond League title in 2022 but finished as runner-up in both 2023 and 2024. This season, he is eager to regain his winning momentum on the international stage.
