Rs 1 Crore Bounty Maoist Leader Sudhakar Killed in Bijapur Encounter

In an intense encounter between security forces and Maoists in Bijapur’s National Park area, Chhattisgarh, resulted in the death of Sudhakar alias Nar Singhachalam, a Central Committee member of the CPI (Maoist). He was a dreaded naxalite with a one crore rupees on his head.

The gunfight erupted on early Thursday following intelligence inputs about presence of  senior Maoist cadres in the dense forest. A joint team of District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, and COBRA commandos launched a coordinated counter-insurgency operation .

Bastar Police said the operation was based on credible inputs about the presence of top Maoist leaders in the said area. Initial reports indicate a major success in the ongoing anti-Naxal efforts in the region.

Search and clearance operations are still underway to capture more maoists in the area.
