NCW asks the Maharashtra Govt. for swift probe of Thane Rape Case

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has directed the Maharashtra government for a swift investigation into reported abduction, rape, forced abortion and prostitution of a 15-year-old girl in Thane, Maharashtra. Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report, the Commission has asked the Maharashtra Director General of Police for a detailed action-taken report within three days.

The commission stressed upon the immediate arrest of the main accused along with strict action under the relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, and other applicable laws. It further directed the state to ensure victim support and rehabilitation.
