Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announced his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs) today, ending a notable career spanning over a decade in International Cricket.
Maxwell made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in 2012 and went on to represent Australia in 149 matches. He amassed 3,990 runs at an average of 33.81 with an impressive strike rate of 126.70. Alongside his batting, Maxwell took 77 wickets with his off-spin and held 91 catches.
As an important contributor to Australia’s success, Maxwell played crucial roles in the 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup triumphs. His unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup, played despite battling severe cramps, remains one of the most iconic innings in cricket history.
