Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) celebrated its 75th Anniversary on Wednesday. Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Radhakrishnan congratulated ICCR and commendable the achievements of ICCR over the past seven and a half decades.
As part of the celebrations, a cultural programme was also organized on the theme ‘Laya ki Kahani’ or ‘The Universal Language of Rhythm’ in a Kathak style by Aditi Bhagwat and her group. The mesmerizing performance enthralled the audience.
The dignitaries present were Rahul Barhat, Protector of Emigrants, Ministry of External Affairs; noted art historian Pheroza Godrej; Smita Vats Sharma, Director General, Press Information Bureau.
Diplomatic representation from Spain, Singapore, Belarus, Srilanka, Indonesia, USA, Italy, Afghanistan, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Thailand also participated in the cultural evening.
Eminent artists such as Padmashri Darshana Jhaveri, Jayashree Rajgopalan, Art Historian Saryu Doshi also graced the occasion. The event also saw the participation of representatives from Somaiya University, Mumbai University, S.S. & L.S. Patkar College and a large number of foreign students from different countries.
