“Design in India, Design for the World.”: As WAVES 2025 in the offing, a Storytelling Workshop organized at IIMC, Delhi

Dancing Atoms, under WAVES 2025, hosted a Storytelling Workshop at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, on 23 January, 2025. Renowned writer-director Saraswathi Buyyala led the session, designed to equip aspiring filmmakers with the skills to captivate investors and producers with their stories.

Saraswathi Buyyala is a writer-director with expertise in animation, visual effects, games, comics, and AR/VR. She has contributed to several acclaimed, Oscar-winning films, including Life of Pi, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Golden Compass. Her work reflects a deep passion for storytelling and a mastery of cutting-edge visual techniques.

The workshop provided participants with actionable insights into crafting compelling narratives and mastering the art of the pitch. Attendees also explored the techniques such as creating powerful loglines, building layered characters and structuring pitch decks that highlight their projects’ unique vision.

A diverse group of aspiring filmmakers, writers, screenwriters, and film enthusiasts gathered for this immersive workshop dedicated to the art of storytelling and filmmaking. Participants engaged in a dynamic learning experience that equipped them with essential storytelling principles and practical filmmaking techniques.

The workshop provided aspiring filmmakers with a strong foundation in the craft with Writers & screenwriters honing their narrative skills, focusing on the creation of compelling characters and impactful storylines that resonate with audiences. Film enthusiasts also deepened their appreciation for cinema by exploring the intricacies of storytelling and character development.

Aligning with the broader vision of “Design in India, Design for the World”, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, is organizing the WAVESummit from 5-9 February, 2025. At this summit, content creators will have access to 27 challenges, providing them an opportunity to showcase their talent on national and international platforms.

Dancing Atoms is organising Animation Filmmakers Competition as one of the Create in India Challenge Season-1 under WAVES 2025.
