The clothing system will be very useful in military operations in cold weather conditions along the Himalayan region.

DIPAS, DRDO has designed this system based on the concept of insulation required (IREQ) and has features of modularity and all-weather operation capabilities with required ruggedness for military use.

In the higher region of the middle Himalaya the summer temperature is recorded at around 15–18 °C while the winters are below freezing point. The climatic condition in the region above 4880 metre is below freezing and is permanently covered with snow.

During the winter the snowfall is heavy while the summers are much more mild and temperate So guarding in this region is too difficult for the Indian Forces. HIMKAVACH will be a perfect solution to keep the forces fit and healthy.
