India Wins the Inaugural U19 Womens’ Asia Cup beating Bangladesh in Final

India beat Bangladesh in the Womens’ U19 Asia Cup T20 final by 41 runs and became the Champion in the Inaugural edition. The final was played at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 22 December 2024.  Gongadi.Trisha from India got both the Player of the match and Player of the series awards.

Winning the toss Bangladesh put India into bat. The pitch was offering the bowlers and India able to score 117 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Opener Gongadi Trisha got 52 off 47 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Farjana Easmin got 4/31 for Bangladesh.

Chasing a small target Bangladesh were unable to capitalize on the required run rate of approximately 6 runs per over. Two bats women could able reach the double figer score. Juairiya Ferdous was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 22 runs. Aayushi Shukla got the figure of 3/17. and supported by Parunika, Sonam with 2 wickets each.

Indian supporters were delighted after the win. It was the first edition of the Womens’ U19 Asian Championship with 6 teams participating in the tournament. Apart from India, Bangladesh, the other teams were Pakistan, Srilanka, Nepal and Malaysia.
