New Delhi || 16-11-2024 India beat South Africa by 135 runs in the 4th and final T20 match at Johannesburg and won the series 3-1. Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma got century each and remained not out in the match.
Winning the toss India chose to bat first. India attacked from the very first over and got 73 for first wicket in 5.5 over. Sanju Samson got 109 off 56 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes. Player of the match and series Tilak Verma got 120 off 47 balls with 9 fours and 10 sixes.
India scored 283 runs in the loss of just one wicket. SA given 17 wides and a no ball in the match. Men in blue scored all around the park and got a record of 2nd most runs of 283 by India. Earlier in October this year India had scored 297 runs against Bangladesh in a T20 match.
All the SA bowlers were very very expensive. India hit 23 sixes in the match and became the 2nd team after West Indies to cross 1500 sixes in T20 format. India also got the record of most number of Sixes (23) in this match. Earlier India had hit 22 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad this year.
Chasing a huge target SA lost their four important wickets for just 10 runs on the board in 3 overs. Tristan Stubbs remained top scorer for SA with 43 runs. David Miller and Tristan Stubbs shown some intention for the proteas. For the 5th wicket they added 86 runs, but that was not enough to win the match. They had mountain to climb. At the end they were all out for 148 runs in 18.2 overs.
For India Arshdeep Singh got 3-20 and as usual Varun Chakravarty in the business got 2-42. All other bowlers also play their part . V Chakravarty remained the leading wicket takers with 12 in the series. Earlier he had 5 wickets in the 2nd match of the series.
Tilak Verma remained the top scorer in the series with 2 centuries and got the man of the series award. After the post match presentation Tilak said “Previous year I got out in the first ball here, So this time it was important to score runs for the team and series.”
This year India’s record is phenomenal in T20I. India played 26 matches losing only just 2 matches one with Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe and the other with SA in the 2nd match of this series. Not to forget India became the T20 world cup champion this year in Barbados, West Indies.
