ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi, organized a unique capacity-building programme titled “Orange Bridge”, designed to promote creativity, innovation and multi-disciplinary thinking among early-mid career researchers, on Monday.
The programme was organised by the Division of Biochemistry, ICAR-IARI, under the aegis of the Society for Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology (SPBB), in collaboration with the Building Opportunities and Driving Hope (BODH) team.
“Orange Bridge” introduced a novel activity-based and experiential learning approach aimed at strengthening skills relevant to the emerging creative economy and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The programme brought together 25 early-mid career scientists for hands-on training focused on transforming scientific ideas into impactful and implementable projects.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. T. R. Sharma, Former Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, and President, SPBB.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Sharma emphasised the importance of nurturing leadership capabilities among early-mid career researchers and highlighted the critical role of collaboration, networking and effective communication in building successful scientific leadership.
Dr. Suresh Kumar, Head, Division of Biochemistry, ICAR-IARI, also addressed the participants and appreciated the initiative and successful organisation of the programme. He congratulated the coordinators and participants for their active engagement in the training.
The programme was conceptualised to familiarise researchers with the principles of the creative economy, where creativity, knowledge, innovation and intellectual capital are transformed into economic and societal value.
The training was delivered through a highly interactive format by resource persons from the IIT, CSIR and ICAR systems, as part of the BODH initiative.
The participants progressed through a series of practical activities covering project ideation, development of project proposals, effective team building, grant pitching and project implementation.
The programme culminated in discussions on real-world challenges encountered during project execution, enabling participants to understand the complete journey from an initial scientific idea to a fundable and implementable project.
