Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Shatrujeet Kapur, today flagged off the Force-Level Mountaineering Expedition–2026 from Force Headquarters, New Delhi, by handing over the expedition flag to the Team Leader, Shri Parikshit Shah, Deputy Commandant.

The expedition will attempt Mt. Kamet (7,756 m) and Mt. Abi Gamin (7,355 m) in Uttarakhand. A 27-member team, comprising 20 mountaineers and 7 administrative staff, is participating in the expedition. ITBP mountaineers had successfully summited both peaks in 2024, reaffirming the Force’s high-altitude expertise and rich mountaineering legacy.

Addressing the expedition team, the Director General said that ITBP has a distinguished history of successfully conducting numerous national and international mountaineering expeditions. He emphasised that such expeditions are an integral part of the Force’s professional ethos, enhancing high-altitude endurance, operational preparedness, leadership and teamwork—qualities essential for guarding the nation’s Himalayan frontiers.

Dr. Akun Sabharwal, Inspector General (Training), along with other senior officers of the Force, was present on the occasion to extend best wishes to the expedition team.
