The extended submission window for the First International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026 closed yesterday, giving filmmakers one final opportunity to submit their entries for the inaugural edition of the festival.
Filmmakers from India and abroad completed their submissions before the deadline of 11:59 pm on August 1 through the FilmFreeway platform.
The International Film Festival is organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.
Scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10, the festival aims to celebrate cinematic excellence, creative storytelling and cultural diversity under the theme “Rang-e-Cinema.” It is expected to bring together filmmakers, artists and cinema enthusiasts from across the world, providing a platform for emerging as well as established talent.
The festival is envisioned as a major cultural initiative to showcase compelling stories while promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a destination for filmmaking and creative exchange.
Organisers had encouraged filmmakers working across genres to seize the last opportunity to participate in the four-day event.
The International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir 2026 will mark a significant milestone in promoting film culture and creating new opportunities for the region’s creative industry.
