India defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the first T20 International in Harare on Thursday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After opting to bowl, India restricted Zimbabwe to 125 for 7.

Chasing 126, 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with a record-breaking half-century, becoming the youngest player to score a fifty in men’s international cricket.

He reached the milestone in just 18 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes, as India completed the chase with 40 balls to spare.

The victory also marked India’s first win under new captain Shreyas Iyer, following a six-match losing streak in series against Ireland and England.
