Saushrutam 2026: All India Institute of Ayurveda Successfully Concludes Three-Day International Seminar

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, under the Ministry of Ayush, successfully concluded the three-day international seminar “Saushrutam 2026” with the valedictory session held today. Inaugurated by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu the 3-day seminar was organised on the auspicious occasion of Sushruta Jayanti I.e on 15 July.

Vd. Maneesha Kothekar, Chairperson, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), and Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from graced the valedictory session as Chief Guests. Dr. Sushrut Kanaujia, President, Board of Ethics and Registration, NCISM, and Padma Shri Prof. Manoranjan Sahu attended the programme as Guests of Honour.

Vd. Maneesha Kothekar in her address said that seminars such as Saushrutam should be organized regularly as they provide valuable exposure to students and strengthen academic and professional engagement in the field of Ayurveda. She observed that such initiatives are helping society recognise Ayurvedacharyas not only as physicians but also as skilled surgeons.

She further reaffirmed the Commission’s support towards strengthening and promoting Ayurvedic education and practice.

Highlighting the vision behind Saushrutam 2026, Prof. (Vd.) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director, AIIA, stated that the seminar was conceived as a global platform to foster scientific dialogue, facilitate the exchange of evidence-based surgical practices, showcase emerging technological innovations, and celebrate the enduring surgical legacy of Acharya Sushruta.

He noted that the initiative aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between Ayurveda and modern surgical sciences while promoting research, innovation, and excellence in surgical education.

Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Organising Chairman of the seminar, said that AIIA remains committed to improving the quality of surgical practices in Ayurveda and strengthening the Ayurvedic surgical fraternity.

He added that international platforms such as ‘Saushrutam’ play an important role in achieving excellence in Ayurvedic surgery.

During the valedictory session, the dignitaries felicitated international resource persons in recognition of their valuable contributions to the seminar.

On the occasion, AIIA renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Delhi for another five years, reaffirming the commitment of both institutions towards collaborative research and innovation.

The event also witnessed the release of the third edition of Ayushvallari, the annual Hindi magazine of the Rajbhasha Department of AIIA.

The dignitaries also released Neetra Rogya: Samanya Jankari aur Niwaran, a publication aimed at raising public awareness about eye diseases, dispelling misconceptions, and disseminating scientific information in simple and accessible language. A souvenir of Saushrutam 2026 was also unveiled during the programme.

The seminar witnessed the participation of eminent academicians and surgeons from Thailand, Israel, Austria, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Greece, and India, who shared their expertise and experiences in various domains of surgery and healthcare.
