The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has opened the first permanent 60-metre steel bridge over Jambhir Nallah on the Rajpur NH-144 Link–Qila Dharhal–Lam Road in Rajouri district, marking a significant infrastructure milestone for the border region.
Constructed by BRO Sampark, the bridge is the first permanent structure built at the site since Independence and is expected to provide reliable, all-weather connectivity to strategically important areas in Nowshera Sub-Division.
The project has brought major relief to residents of nearly 10 villages located near the Line of Control (LoC). During the monsoon season, these villages often remained cut off from the main highway as overflowing waters of the Jambhir Nallah disrupted movement and access to essential services.
With the commissioning of the permanent steel bridge, uninterrupted connectivity has now been ensured throughout the year, improving transportation, access to healthcare, education and other essential facilities for local residents.
People of the area welcomed the development and expressed gratitude to the Border Roads Organisation and the Government for completing the long-pending project. They said the bridge has significantly improved connectivity and eased the daily lives of residents living in the remote border belt.
The bridge is expected to strengthen infrastructure in the region while enhancing mobility and socio-economic development in the strategically important border villages of Rajouri district.
