Mallikarjun Kharge re-elected to Rajya Sabha

Chairman, Rajya Sabha, C.P. Radhakrishnan today administered oath in the Parliament House to the re-elected member Mallikarjun Kharge, representing the state of Karnataka. Kharge took the oath in Hindi.

Harivansh, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha; Jagat Prakash Nadda, Leader of the House, Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice; L. Murugan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs; Sonia Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik, Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, Members, Rajya Sabha; Priyanka Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, Members, Lok Sabha; P. C. Mody, Secretary General, Rajya Sabha and other senior officers of the secretariat were also present on the occasion.

After taking oath Karge said, “I had the privilege of taking the oath of office as a Member of the Council of States, again. It is a matter of immense pride and responsibility to continue serving this august Upper House as the Leader of the Opposition.”

“I look forward to even stronger coordination during the forthcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament so that, together, we can make the government of the day more accountable.We will continue to raise the burning concerns, aspirations and voices of the people with sincerity, conviction and determination. That remains our foremost responsibility, and I shall discharge it with the utmost commitment,”he added.

This is Kharge’s second term, as he was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2020 for the first time. The LOP of Rajya Sabha was also elected twice to Lok Sabha.
