England vs Ghana (Froup L)
Ghana’s gaolkeeper Benjamin Asare’s response to keeping England at bay was as composed as his performance in goal at Boston Stadium. Asare played a key role as the Black Stars frustrated Thomas Tuchel’s side to secure a valuable 0-0 draw in Group L match– a result built on patience, discipline and a collective defensive effort.
Carol Queiroz’s side approached the game with full respect for the danger England posed and refused to give their attack an inch to play with.
Colombia vs Congo DR (Group K)
Colombia placed themself in the FIFA World Cup 2026â„¢ Round of 32 after a win over Congo DR at Guadalajara Stadium, in Mexico.
Congo DR’s Edo Kayembe tested the waters with a long-range effort that sailed wide, but the rest of an electric first half belonged to Colombia.
Lionel Mpasi denied Jhon Arias, with Daniel Munoz sending the follow-up into the side netting. Munoz then saw a header saved before bundling in the rebound, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Colombia continued to press as Mpasi saved from James Rodriguez, Luis Diaz and Gustavo Puerta. Congo DR finally threatened late in the half, but Arthur Masuaku’s sensetional cross narrowly evaded the head of Yoane Wissa, who was inches away from adding to his equalising goal against Portugal on Matchday 1.
Croatia vs Panama (Group L)
Croatia kick-started their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama, a result that also confirmed The Canal Men’s elimination from the competition with one game remaining.
Panama were the better side in the first half at Toronto Stadium, Canada and very nearly opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic did superbly to tip Jose Luis Rodriguez’s powerful header on to the crossbar.
Croatia established more of a foothold after the interval though, and took the lead in the 54th minute when substitute Ante Budimir tucked in at the back post after Josip Stanisic’s delicious low cross from the right.
