In Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 India lost to South Africa by six wickets on Sunday.

Having taken 2-27 with the ball, the all-rounder struck seven fours and four sixes in a 45-ball innings as the Proteas chased down a target of 159 with five balls to spare.

Winning the toss Captain Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bat first. India scored acompettetive score of 158 in 20 overs. Shefali Verma remained top scorer for India with 31 blazing runs in just 15 balls.

The defeat puts India in a precarious position as they now most likely have to win their remaining two fixtures – against Bangladesh and Australia – to remain in contention for a semifinal spot.
