In FIFA World Cup, Mexico defeated South Korea 1-0 in Group A, at the Guadalajara Stadium, Mexico to become the first country to qualify for the knockout Round of 32, today.

Following a tactical, scoreless first half where clear chances were sparse, the decisive breakthrough arrived in the 50th minute.

Mexican midfielder Luis Romo capitalised on a major defensive blunder, turning the ball into an empty net after South Korean goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu collided with his own defender, Lee Gi-hyuk, and unable to collect a high ball.

In other matches Switzerland beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 (Group B) , Canada beat Qatar 6-0 (Group B), Czech Republic drew with South Africa 1-1 (Group A).
