Preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 have gained momentum, with the District Administration Ramban announcing temporary night-time traffic restrictions on National Highway-44 to facilitate essential road maintenance works.
As per the order, traffic on the affected stretch of NH-44 will remain suspended from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM on the intervening nights of June 12 to 14 and June 16. The restrictions have been imposed following a request from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for undertaking maintenance works at various locations along the highway.
The administration has directed the concerned agencies to ensure adequate safety arrangements, including proper barricading, signage and traffic management measures during the execution of the works.
Traffic authorities have advised commuters to adhere to the advisory and plan their travel accordingly. Officials said the maintenance works are being carried out to keep the strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in good condition and ensure the safe and smooth movement of pilgrims, tourists and other road users during the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra.
