A rare wild cat called Caracal has been spotted in Kuno National Park in the Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh after several decades, marking a significant milestone in the state’s wildlife conservation efforts.

The sighting came during a recent camera trap survey. Welcoming the development, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said the Project Cheetah is not just about rehabilitating cheetahs, but its goal is to protect all wildlife and their natural habitat in the forest.

He said that Kuno is now recognised as a successful model of wildlife conservation and getting attention at both national and international levels.

He further added that the return of the Caracal is proof of this hard work and commitment. The government has launched Project Cheetah, which transformed Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh into a major wildlife conservation centre.
