A massive fire broke out this morning in B-1 coach (near SLR end) of Train No. 12431 Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express between Luni Richha (LNR) and Vikramgarh Alot (VMA) at Km 729/02 (Loco) & 728/14-16 (SLR) in Down direction.
All passengers of the affected coach were safely deboarded. No injury or casualty to any passenger or railway staff, the officials said.
The fire broke out around 5:15 am in the B-1 coach carrying 68 passengers near the Vikramgarh Alot railway station in Kota.
The Over Head Electric (OHE) supply was cut immediately. The affected B-1 coach was detached from the rake. Railway employees and officers rushed to the spot and are engaged in fire-fighting operations.
Refreshment was served to the passengers of the affected coach at the site. An additional coach will be attached at Kota station to facilitate further travel.
Dense black smoke was seen high into the air from the detached rake. The fire also spread to some trees near the railway tracks, as per the report.
Senior officers from Kota have departed for the site. Situation is fully under control, the railway officials said.
The Rajdhani express (12431) started from Site with Diesel Engine at 9.48 hrs for VMA, as per the report.
Cause of fire is being investigated.
