9 Killed, Several injured in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar Fire Tragedy

A massive fire today claimed 9 lives in Vivek Vihar area of the National Capital. The Delhi Fire Services said they received information about the fire incident early this morning following which fourteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

The department informed that the fire was brought under control by 6:25 AM. Talking to media, Fire Officer Mukesh Verma informed that the fire broke out on some floors of a four-storey building.

He said that during the rescue and fire extinguishing operations, 15 persons were rescued from the building. Verma informed that the firefighting operation has been concluded.

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Taranjit Singh Sandhu expressed grief over the tragic fire incident. Sandhu extended his condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Sandhu noted that the authorities have been directed to ensure all necessary medical assistance is provided to the injured, along with immediate relief and support for those affected.
