The Indian women’s cricket team, led by Deepti Sharma’s all-round performance, defeated South Africa by 14 runs in the fourth T20I of the five-match series.

Asked to bat first in Johannesburg, India posted a competitive total of 185 for 5, with Jemimah Rodrigues top-scoring with 43. Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh also contributed with the bat, scoring 36 and 34, respectively.

Sune Luus provided a brisk start for South Africa with a 40 off 24 balls, but India held firm as Deepti Sharma’s maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is helped restrict the hosts to 171 for 9.

This was India’s first win of the series, though South Africa still leads 3-1 ahead of the final fixture in Benoni on Monday.
