Shots fired at White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, Trump remains Safe

Shots were fired as United States President Donald Trump attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night. Loud bangs were heard as guests rushed to take cover under tables. Tactical teams took positions on stage before Trump was evacuated.

Police surrounded the Washington Hilton Hotel, while helicopters hovered overhead and the suspected shooter was taken into custody.

The U.S. Secret Service issued a statement after the incident, confirming that authorities were investigating the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Chief of Communications for the U.S. Secret Service Anthony Guglielmi said the agency is probing the incident, confirming that the President and First Lady are safe along with all protectees, and that one individual is in custody.
