Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma held an interactive session with a delegation of newly appointed directors of the India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), focusing on ways to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
Welcoming the delegation, Verma appreciated the chamber’s role in promoting trade, investment and business collaboration between India and Bangladesh.
He emphasised the need to transform existing trade relations into a broader and more dynamic economic partnership by leveraging the geographical proximity between the two countries into concrete business opportunities.
During the discussions, both sides also explored key facilitative measures, including trade settlement in Indian Rupees to ease transactions and reduce currency-related hurdles.
Infrastructure upgrades at major land customs stations were also highlighted as an important step to ensure smoother and faster cross-border movement of goods.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation and identifying new avenues to enhance bilateral trade and investment flows.
